Main/ Services/ Ultrasound room/ Thyroid ultrasound

Thyroid ultrasound is a fast and non-invasive diagnostic method used to examine the thyroid gland.

Using this method, the doctor can assess its size, structure and detect possible abnormalities, such as nodules, cysts and inflammations.

During a thyroid ultrasound, the doctor assesses the following:

  • location of the gland;
  • structure (echogenicity);
  • presence or absence of abnormal inclusions, nodules, cysts;
  • blood flow (branching of blood vessels);
  • presence or absence of abnormal lymph nodes;
  • displacement of adjacent organs (trachea, blood vessels and nerves).

Ultrasound of the thyroid gland allows detecting abnormalities at an early stage and avoid possible health complications.

It is recommended to have a thyroid ultrasound once a year for timely diagnosis and treatment.
