Soft tissue ultrasound is used to examine and visualize the internal structure of muscles, tendons, ligaments and other soft tissues.
This procedure is widely used to detect tumours, inflammations, injuries and other abnormalities.
The main indications for soft tissue ultrasound are:
- soft tissue tumours, such as lipoma, hygroma, atheroma, chondroma, hemangioma;
- abscess (collection of pus in tissues);
- phlegmon (soft connective tissue inflammation);
- hematoma (a collection of clotted blood due to trauma);
- connective tissue diseases;
- hernias.
