Main/ Services/ Gynaecologist's office/ Gynaecologist consultation and examination

Regular visits to an obstetrician-gynaecologist are an important component of health of every woman of reproductive age.

When women become sexually active, they should see a gynaecologist once a year for a preventive examination, as well as for unscheduled consultation with a doctor in case of certain complaints and symptoms (lower abdominal pain, breast pain, intermenstrual bleeding, menstrual irregularities, heavy periods or absence of menstruation). It is also an opportunity for you and your partner to talk about sex life, contraception, pregnancy planning, etc.

What does a gynaecologist consultation and examination include?

A consultation with a gynaecologist begins with a conversation: the doctor listens to complaints, collects a detailed medical history and studies previous examinations, if any.

First, the gynaecologist will ask for the first day of your last period. So don’t forget to take your menstrual calendar with you.

Then, if necessary, the doctor performs a pelvic examination, which includes:

  • examination of the external genital organs;
  • examination using a speculum;
  • flora smear;
  • Pap smear (cervical cytology);
  • colposcopy (examination using a special optical device (colposcope),
  • bimanual examination of internal pelvic organs;
  • breast examination and palpation.

After completing the examination at our Medical Center, you will receive an examination report. We send you all test results performed during the examination via Viber or email. The doctor online (Viber/phone) interprets test results and provide recommendations for follow-up actions.

A gynaecologist consultation and pelvic examination is recommended in the following cases:

  • annual preventive examination;
  • abnormal uterine bleeding;
  • pelvic pain;
  • urination problems;
  • vaginal wall prolapse;
  • vaginal dryness;
  • increased discharge, changes in the nature, smell and colour of discharge;
  • genital itching and burning;
  • a history of diagnosed cervical dysplasia;
  • gynaecological malignancies;
  • genital rash;
  • installation of an intrauterine device (IUD);
  • endometrial/cervical biopsy.
