Infertility is an inability to conceive for 12 months with regular unprotected sexual intercourse (2-3 times per week) for those under 35 and for 6 months for those aged 35 and older.

Unfortunately, infertility occurs in 10-15% of all married couples. Infertility can be associated with either a female factor (55-60%) or a male factor (40-45%), or both.

Endocrine factors are the cause of female infertility in 35-40% of cases.

Endocrine disorders of the ovaries can be both primary and secondary caused by inflammation.

Cyclical processes in the ovaries are disrupted, anovulation (absence of ovulation) occurs or follicle maturation slows down with an inadequate luteal phase.

Patients with various forms of hyperprolactinemia, hyperandrogenism, disorders of the hypothalamic-pituitary system, thyroid gland and adrenal glands suffer from endocrine infertility.

This type of infertility is accompanied by menstrual disorders in the form of amenorrhea, hypomenorrhea and uterine bleeding. Anovulation can also be the result of stress, sudden weight loss, long-term use of certain medications and brain injuries.

The most common causes of endocrine infertility include the following:

  • ovulatory dysfunction;
  • disorders of the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, reproductive glands, thyroid gland;
  • oncology;
  • predominance of male sex hormones in the female body;
  • polycystic ovary syndrome;
  • overweight;
  • hereditary factor;
  • abnormal uterine bleeding;
  • adrenal hyperplasia;
  • congenital pathologies of the genital organs;
  • decrease in the concentration of estrogen and progesterone.

A consultation with an endocrinologist will help you find out the cause and choose the right treatment, which, in combination with other specialists, will lead to the desired result. We are waiting for you at Berehynia Medical Center!
