Radio frequency cervical excision is the removal of abnormal areas of the cervix using radio waves.

 

This procedure is quite effective and relatively less traumatic. It is performed not only for treatment, but also for diagnostic purposes. After removing part of the cervical tissue, it is sent for examination to rule out a possible malignant process.

 

Indications for cervical excision:

  • moderate or severe cervical dysplasia according to the results of PAP test and biopsy;
  • combination of dysplasia with deformity of the cervix;
  • inefficiency of previous treatment of cervical dysplasia by other methods, persistent course.

 

Contraindications to cervical excision:

  • pregnancy;
  • acute and/or exacerbation of chronic diseases, including pelvic inflammatory diseases;
  • genital organs malignancies;
  • presence of cardiac pacemaker.

 

When is the procedure performed?

Cervical excision is performed in the first days after menstruation.

 

The doctor consults the patient before the procedure about the nature of the disease, the effectiveness of this method and possible complications. A list of laboratory tests required before the procedure is determined. All tests can be taken at our Medical Center. 

 

In the first 1-2 months after cervical excision, patients are prohibited from:

  • vaginal sex;
  • using tampons;
  • taking blood thinners;
  • visiting saunas and steam baths, taking hot baths;
  • heavy physical exertion.

 

This can trigger bleeding, cause infection and impair wound healing after cervical excision.
